Your body needs you

Mind, body, spirit. We’ve heard that before, but is there something I haven’t discovered yet? This being the first six months of my life undergoing physical stress so that I can get my body back to where it belongs, I find that it cooperates when I pay close attention to what it needs.

You may think I’m talking weird spiritual body nonsense..but it’s happening. Results come when you are in tune with your body’s needs and intentions. Physically and nutritionally, if you listen, your body communicates frustration, indulgence, and accomplishment. Your mind provides ears for this conversation and the will to respond.

Your body may be smarter than you. Respectively,  it runs off instinct and reaction to what you do or put in it. The first & greatest thing you can give your body is

water

nourishment

movement

sleep

Keep in mind these four elements of your health and listen carefully. Why aren’t you sleeping well? Have you had anything green to eat today? Have you thought or asked yourself if you’re thirsty? And when have you challenged your body?

Be mindful as well, when feeding yourself, that the food you ingest has everything to do with how your day will go. It’s simple. When you have a sugary processed granola bar for breakfast, you’ll feel immensely different than if you had a hard boiled egg and some berries and-you guessed it- a glass of water.

There’s a good place to start. Once you’ve cleared the air of sugar rush & dehydration, your mind will open up with clarity and poise. With consistency, you’ll begin a lifelong friendship with this shell you live in-your body.

If your overweight or your allergies are terrible, or your feet hurt when you’re on them all day- it’s not because of something else, it’s because of you. Your body is crying out to you that there’s a problem & it needs fixed..or there will be worse consequences. If your overweight, you may need to re-asses the putting in and burning off ratio(may it be because of lack of sleep, depression-it may be more than food). If you have allergies, building your immunity would be a good start and then identifying & omitting your allergens. If your feet hurt, are they getting adequate support & rest? do they need less weight on them? there are foods out there that can reduce inflammation in your body of which you may need to look into.

All of these things we know, but we’d rather just take a pill or live with it & complain all day. That’s why healthy people are so annoying. Cause they don’t complain like the rest of us, they just go on about how far they ran today, and talk about how they don’t eat sugar, they’re just way too positive! And we just don’t relate with that. yet.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we ran easily 3 miles a day, or we found amazing foods that were low in carbs/calories that we loved and tasted awesome, and kept us thin. We don’t think about that, we would rather compare ourselves with others than listen to our unique & individually exquisite bodies.

So often, health problems exist for more than meets the eye. It isn’t always about food & exercise, it can go deeper. Depression, a terrible job, oppression, divorce, marital/relationship problems. So we can’t judge everyone on why their health is poor. If someone came home to a loved one that embraced them with a kiss and support, this person would have less reason to raid the fridge and binge eat as someone who’s suffered a divorce and has little or no love and support.

Health is about support. It seems no one has someone to go to about their health problems that will provide them with faithful support. You are your first motivator, yes, but some people need a little boost. They know they need a change, they can feel it in their bones that maybe they could do it- they could actually do it.

This is why I’m a firm believer in health coaches. Not just for weight loss and definitely NOT for strict diets, but for happiness. Everyone deserves to be happy and fulfill their dreams, and the #1 thing missing is support. That’s what I do as a health coach, I try to be there for them, provide them with guidance and acceptance. We’re all human and we all fail- but we all CAN change.
